Things Could Be Worse, But I'd Like Them To Be Better

Ok, I could write for days and still not tell what we have been through the past 5 days. So I'll spare you all on that part. Bailey ended up being discarged yesterday right before lunch with an appointment at 3:15 in Jackson with an ENT to be scoped to find out why she still has stridor. Of scoping her, which she did fabulous with, much better than her Mama at 25 when I had sinus surgery, it was determined that has a "strawberry birthmark" in her throat/esphogus. I mean, really...WHAT???? So, we are scheduled to go back to Children's in Jackson on May 8th for her to put under general antheshia and "explore" the exact location and size of this pesty little thing. At that time, the doctor may remove it, may not. I'm not real clear on what will determine if he does or not. But I've got a call in to his office so I can ask more questions. I was kind of stunned when that's what he said it was so I didn't ask questions, which is odd for me.

Ok, so this doctor just scored some major points. He just called back and it's only been about 5 mins since I left a message with him. Now that's a man that knows how to deal with a mama's anxiety. Dr. Carron says that we'll know more after Friday. He'll remove it if it is taking up less than 50% of her airway. He'll leave it in and manage it with steriods if it is taking up more. So the interventions used to deal with this ranges from medications, to surgery, to a ventilator, to ultimatly being trached if her breathing becomes that compromised. He says this is very rare and he's only traced a kid once over the past 7 years and she had other things going on too, not just this. He also reiterated this may not be what she has once he gets in there. It may just be scar tissue caused from the vent at birth. But we'll know more about it. He's going to look at her other "parts" to check and see if there is anything else causing the reflux and he'll start her on prevacid, which is stronger than the zantac. I LOVE this doctor. I just wish we'd gone straight to Jackson.

Without getting into 5 days worth of a story, I was so mad by the time we left this hospital, the CEO had been to visit me. I don't think she really cared what I had to say, but she did show her face. I'm not done with them yet, they will be getting a letter. And the bad thing is, the care she received was great. It was just the over-all fact that we sat there for 5 days doing something that wasn't making her better, 2 of those 5 days, I was asking to transfer her to Children's and they wouldn't do it. When I get finished, they are going to wish they had just transferred her on.

Just say a prayer for my sweet little girl. She sure does love life and was even smiling and laughing and talking to the ENT when he was scoping her. He couldn't beleive it. NeNe stayed with her at the hospital Tuesday night so we could get some rest and I'm very thankful for that. We needed it since we had to go to Jackson yesterday. I let her Bailey stay at home today so she could relax and rest. Sid kept her this morning and then i came to be with her this afternoon so he could go to work.

Andrew, Chris and Leslie's new baby, has to have hernia surgery next week. So say a little prayer for that fella. Miss Erin is 5 freakin years old today. I. can. not. believe. that!!! It makes me so sad to think about her growing her. We'll be going to Alabama on Saturday for her party at Froggy's. I hear her Mimi took her and let her pick out some princess shoes and dress (pagenet dress) for her to play dress up in and she's having a ball.

MOm and dad made it back from Costa Rica last night. Seems as if they had a great time! We're glad they made it back!

Some Good, Some Bad

First with the good. Bailey Girl went to get her 4 month shots on Thursday. 4 MONTHS!!!! Can you believe it???? She weighed 12 pounds 12 ounces and was 24 inches long. They said she looked great although we are still having many many problems with the reflux and congestion. Which leads me to the not so good news. Miss Bailey Girl is in the hospital. Friday night her breathing became very very labored and we decided to wait it out through the night, which was probably good in some ways and not so good in others, and carry her in first thing Saturday morning. The ped took one look at her and said she had to be admitted. They got busy once we got to the hosptial, putting in her IV and taking xrays and getting labs. I have been very impressed with the hosptial even though it's not a chidren's hospital. She has an oxygen/mist tent, breathing treatments every 2 hours, fluids, antibiotics, and steriods by IV, and is eating like a mad woman. Her RSV, flu, and strep tests were all negative. So as far as what I can tell they just think it's a bad case of the croup. Last night was a nightmare for me because they came in about every hour and once I'd get her to sleep someone would come messing with her. I sent Sid home because he had to work today and I knew he needed his rest. NeNe has been with Bailey since about 8:30 this morning and I came home to get a quick nap and shower. I'm about to head back to the hosptial and will update when I can. I think we may get to come home tomorrow though. Just keep us in your prayers.

Stuck In My Head

That's where all the recent blog posts that haven't gotten posted are. haha! We have been so busy and work has been so busy that I haven't had the time to actually sit down and post. But most nights when I lay down I think about what I should have blogged. Oh well! I can't even begin to tell what all has happened since the last blog post, but here are a few highlights. We went to the beach with Mimi, Aunt Maggie, and Uncle Bo. That's where Bailey spent her first Easter. She didn't care too much for the actual beach because it was so bright she couldn't really open her eyes and the wind was blowing so hard it was taking her breath away. So I don't think she knew what was going on. However, the condo place had an indoor pool and hottub. She LOVED this. She just kicked and kicked and kicked. The condo we stayed in had a HUGE HUGE HUGE jacuzzi tub in the master bath so I got a bath most nights with Miss Bailey so she could swim in there too. One afternoon while coming off of the beach, we were in a hurry because she was hungry so Sid threw her in the shower me. She even loved this. So she's started getting actual showers with me sometimes at home now, too. She smiles and laughs the whole time. It's too funny and sweet!

We went to Jackson this past weekend in Mam-maw's new SUV for Sid's grandfather's 80th birthday. We had a great time and even had some time to hit up a few consignment shops along the way.

We also celebrated Mason's 4th birthday with a birthday party at his house. He got a big new swing set contraption with all kinds of different things on it. So he and his other cousins got to paly on it during the party. Bailey had a wonderful time watching all those boys run around and just be boys.

We'll be heading home in a few short weeks to celebrate Erin's 5th birthday. I just can not belive I just typed that. She is almost 5 years old and that makes me have tears in my eyes. I remember the day that sweet angel was born and being away from her is still hands down the single most hardest part of living in Mississippi. I cannot think about her and what all I'm missing without getting tears in my eyes.

I promise to try to do a better job of blogging mroe often. But it's just so hard when there is so much going on. Bailey is growing so fast, so much! She is such a nosey baby who has to be up in the middle of everything. Still a daddy's girl, still loving life. I don't have any pictures of her first Easter or beach trip. Mimi has pictures and thanks to someone else, we don't have those yet. I just have it all on video and don't know how to post video on here. But I do have some other pictures to scan in and post. I'll try to do that soon!

A Sick Little Girl

Ok, she's not THAT sick. But sick enough for me. I ended up taking Bailey to an after hours clinic in Meridian yesterday aftertoon and thank God we finally got something done about her congestion. The peditrician we saw happens to be the neonatologist for a large hosptial in Meridian (not the one Bay was born at). So I felt pretty good about his decesions. She has slight asthma that is turning into some broncitis and all that is playing into her reflux. Soooo, we have breathing treatments every 4 hours for 4 days and then as needed. We have a steriod twice a day for 5 days and we have a mega dose of Zantac for the reflux. She weighs almost twelve pounds and Dr. Kandil said he was not worried so much about the reflux because she had doubled her birth weight in 3 months. I guess we are doing something right!! I'll try to remember to post a picture of her getting a treatment later. Just thought some of you would like to know what's up with her.

A Wasteful Weekend?

I THINK NOT!! So, Sid had to work allll day long on Saturday and me and Miss Bailey just stayed at home and loved on each other all day. It was wonderful. We have not been home and rested on a Saturday in I don't know when. Sid and I talked about going to Jackson today to see his grandparents, but ended up not going. Don't really know why, we just didn't I don't guess. I thought seriously about taking Bay to a walk-in clinic today in Meridian but decided not to do that, too. She is just still so congested in her chest. I loathe going to the doctor and not getting anything out of it, which is what has happened the past few times I've taken her. They tell me she is too small to give her anything for it. So what happens when it turns into broncitis or worse yet, pnumonia (I'm quite sure neither of those are spelled right)? So I opted to just keep her at home and love on her again all day today.

This week, we are gearing up for a trip to the beach with Mom and Maggie. The rest of the family will get to go when we have to come home. But I'm excited to see Bailey in the water. And I'm even more super excited about her way cheap bathing suits I got off of ebay. I could not find a swim suit in her size anywhere except Gymboree. And it was going to cost over $20 bucks for that one. I just couldn't bring myself to pay that for a suit she would only be able to wear on this one trip. If we go again this summer, she'll for sure be grown out of whatever she is able to wear now. So I was proud of myself for the ebay finds. Let's just hope they come in before we leave on Saturday morning.

I've got a busy week ahead of me, so I doubt there will be much time for blogging. Tomorrow, at 2:00 p.m. I have something going on that I sure could use some prayers for. I don't want to discuss it here, but I am just at a place where I once again find myself at a crossroads. I know what I want and what I wish would happen, but I also know I'm not the one in control of situations like this and in the end, it'll work out according to His will and what He ultimatly has in store for my future. Now that I have Bailey to think about, decesions just take on a whole new meaning. I don't just make them for myself anymore, but for her best interest, too. It is just my prayer that I find peace and understanding and His will in all that happens.

Hope your weekend was a aweseom as our's was and your upcoming week is full of life and fun!!

There Are No Words

To express how much this picture means. A few weeks ago when we were at home in Alabama Pap-paw preached at church. He had 3 grand children, 3 grand children-in-laws, and three great grand children there. Pictured below with him is Erin and her new baby brother Andrew and Bailey. I LOVE this picture of them with Pap-paw!
