Just A Few Past Times

Why is it that when the toddlers start coloring they want to color on everything except a piece of paper?  My walls have been colored on more times than I would care to count, but the twins have always loved to write.  Finally, they have gotten the hang of coloring on what should be colored on.

Sometimes, bear gets to color, too!  Another one of their favorite activities is puzzles.  They LOVE puzzles and are very good at them, but if I left the puzzles out with their normal play toys, the puzzle pieces would be everywhere except with the puzzles.  They stay put up until I get them out, which I try to do a few times a week.  I wish I could find a good storage solution so that they could stay out all the time.  They are so tough on toys and just things in general that when I buy books, I generally buy two books.  One to tear up and one to have for when they get older.  They love to sit and read, have us read to them, and especially enjoy sitting with Bailey to read, but keeping up with their toys is almost impossible.  That's one of my biggest pet peeves is that their stuff is everywhere.  I know one day it won't be that way and since we don't have a toy room, the living room is the toy room-but you know those things you swear you will never do? Yea, will one of mine was I would never keep toys in my living room.  You don't want to see evidence of that backfiring, I assure you!

Bailey's Mammaw gave her an Easter activity to do this year- the resurrection eggs.  We had to start ours early because the suspense of what it was, was killing Bailey.  She has really enjoyed looking inside each egg each night, and sometimes we have done two eggs at night.  The only one we have left is the Golden Empty Egg.  She has already peeked and keeps saying that they forget the thing in that egg.  Of course, that egg represents the empty tomb and Risen Savior.

I will have to admit that as much as she has enjoyed this, it has stressed me out a little.  She is 5 1/2 and really only gets about half of what I'm trying to tell her.  I was frustrated with the first egg or two we opened because she was more interested in the object than listening to the bible verse and story, but finally I just realized that anything she got out of it was better than nothing and I've tried to be more relaxed about it.  There were a few times I even threatened to give them to a little girl who wanted to listen, but last night she decided she wanted to pray and it was just so sweet listening to her and listening to her thank God for all of what she saw as blessings.  And of course I had to stop and thank God for MY blessings.

Speaking of Bailey and Easter, you want to see something precious???

This was Bailey's second Easter in 2010.  Her first Easter, we were at the beach and she was a tiny little thing with breathing problems that we didn't even know existed.  This was after that nightmare. It's so bitter sweet to look at pictures likes this because where does the time go???  Although Bailey has been in prek 4 at her local school this year, we have been very relaxed about it.  She has missed a few days for fun things and slept in a few days when she could.  But next year is the big year-Kindergarten. I can't believe it's already that time.

And speaking of time...check this out....

In Mimi's lap at the doctor's office at about 16 days old. I canNOT believe that these tiny little babies have grown into girls that are almost pottied trained and ready for big girl beds. I dropped off their registration forms for prek 3 yesterday.  WHAT????

Funny how this post has just flowed right along, but speaking of preschool and school (and college), I came across this link today.

Although we have a good plan for savings for college, this blew me away.  Imagine daycare costings more than college, and having three in daycare at one time.  That happened to us.

Anyway, just a tidbit I found interesting.

With a few more weeks left until Summer, we have a busy few months.  Bailey's end of the year dance recital is coming up,which means more practices and softball has started.  Sid and I have pretty much kept a low profile the past year or so, with the twins having an early bedtime and us just trying to survive- but life is happening!!!!
